Marcy Speer Memorial Research Fund 
ASAP is pleased to announce the Marcy Speer Memorial Research
Fund. Established in memory of ASAP Board member, Medical
Advisory Board member, and Research Committee Chair, the Marcy Speer
Memorial Research Fund will be an on-going tribute to a
remarkable individual. This fund will commemorate her commitment to
research.
Dr. Speer was the Director of the Duke Center for Human
Genetics, Chief of the Division of Medical Genetics, and an
internationally recognized researcher in neural tube birth defects
including Chiari malformation. One of the original ASAP
Medical Advisory Board members, Marcy helped develop and chair ASAP's
Research Committee since its inception. Marcy lost her battle
with breast cancer on August 4th, 2007. She is survived by her husband
and two daughters.
