where is everyone from?

Postby chrisw » Sun Oct 10, 2010 7:26 pm

I see lots of postings that I wonder where people are from. Recently I saw some posts about docs in Danville and I have grown up spending lots of time between Chatham and Greensboro. So, I was naturally curious if the people where talking about Danville since I might be looking myself for a new pain specialist near Smith Mountain Lake.

Notice how it is a little frustrating when I don't mention if I am talking about Northern California, Timbuku, or Southside Va and the Peidmont area of NC?

I would think it would be nice if people updated their profiles with the state IF they don't mind sharing! I understand some people prefer to be anonymous as possible, but if you don't mind sharing you can go to your profile and put as much information as you feel comfortable!

Thanks!
Chris

Funny that you post this..... I was just wondering the same thing, but really for the number of times I have seen the name Wendi spelled with an (i). Previously, I believed I was rather unusual.... or is there just a higher incidence of Wendi's with CM/SM or close relatives with CM/SM?

BTW, I am Wendi and I am from PA.

W!OW, 2 replies before I even finished with my profile! One of my few complaints of using my phone so much now is it doesn't spell-check, as some of you may have noticed from my recent posts! So I will go back and proofread later.

I live in Columbia, SC but with my um.. marital issues right now we may sell the home and I may move back to VA, either near or on Smith Mountain Lake or in Blacksburg, VA (Go Hokies!)

It would be nice to see who is near also for perhaps mini support groups or to invite them fishing!

Originally, Hampton, VA. And did some time in Va Beach, Smithfied (ham capital), Williamsburg, and Richmond. Have traced the family name to John Tyree who imigrated from the Isle of Tiree off the west coast of Scotland to New Kent County, near Wialliamsburg late 1600's. Transplanted to Nashville, Tn and just do not like it here. Seems Tn is a few years behind the rest of the country.

Do miss that salt water fishing. Don't know didly 'bout this fresh water stuff, and the fish have no taste to them at all.

Peace,
David

I am in Southwest MI....right across the lake from Chicago. Would love to hear from anyone in the area. Feel very alone here. Haven't been able to find any support groups nearby. Am also looking for a new NS, as my wonderful NS moved to St Louis this past spring. NS who took over the practice is an absolute nightmare!

Hi Wendi in PA,

I live in Lancaster, probably about 1 1/2 hours from you.

BTW, did you know that there is a Chiari support group that meets on the first Sat of the month at Reading Hospital? meets from 10-12. The coordinator also plans social activities... They held a Walk for a Cure Sept 18 and I went, it was a really nice event.

Roz, this is a different topic, the point of this topic is primarily to get people to update their profiles, but regardless any additional way we can network is a good thing, right?

Wendi, Wow... Redding! My brother used to live there for years! We lived near Nevada City for a while growing up...

David, I got you beat! The first Willis's came over with the first appointed govenor of Virginia as friends of his, I guess when VA officially became a colony. The 2nd son, and his two nephews, the 2nd and 3rd sons of their generation. My first relative in VA was a Wingfield (my great-grandmothers maiden family name). The Wingfield was the nobleman who was supposed to be in charge of the Jamestown colony but the troublemaker Capt. Smith mutineed against him on the boat over taking military rather than noble control of Jamestown.

Any time you want to come back east we can get a few lines wet!

Yes, Willis is one of the names on the short list of FFV William and Mary published. Some of the rest read like our family reunions first, middle and last names still.

Wendi2: Yes, I do know about the Reading, PA group (not the Redding,CA), our Lehigh Valley group has met with them for lunch about 3 times. They have been around longer than us. We have a great time when we get together for lunch.

I do know where Lancaster is. Very pretty there. You are welcome to come to any of our meetings if you don't mind the drive, or come with the Reading group for lunch.

Chris: Small world, huh? Redding, Ca is beautiful too. I laughed when I moved to PA and saw Reading, Pa, thought they spelling it wrong. It is pronounced the same, not like reading a book, lol.
