long/short term disability ?

Postby steph81 » Thu Jan 20, 2011 12:05 pm

HI everyone,

I was interested in getting my own disability insurance. I am a esthetician and work part time for a small business. I work only on commission, and get no paid sick days. Basically if I don't work I don't get paid (ugh).. I am worried that if something happens I will have no coverage. I was wondering if anybody knows anything about private insurance.

Thanks,
Steph

Hi, Steph,

Ins. Companies usually deny coverage for people who have certain medical conditions. I got my policy when my employer added that coverage to the benefits package, so they had to accept all who applied, with a 1 year waiting period for existing conditions.

Good luck,

Hi Steph,

Have you thought about starting an online business? I know a guy who buys books at thrift stores and sells them on Amazon. He made more part time than he did teaching. So he quit teaching and does his online business fulltime. Just a thought. Good luck.
