Doctors in Kentucky for SM

Postby BstKy » Wed May 18, 2011 6:16 pm

Hi all, just received MRI results today. Have a 4mm syrinx at C6-T5. No CM is evident w/ initial MRI, have had several months w/ horrible shoulder blade pain, within the last month have begun to have numbness in left arm, pins and needles to the pinky and ring fingers. Also the worst are the chest muscle spasms, and feeling my pulse through my head and body. Last couple of days have had lump in my throat and notice myself having a weak voice along with some involuntary twitches in my face and hands. Anyway, I have been referred to a NS in Lexington KY @ the University of KY, I do not know if the NS has experience w/ SM or syrinx's. (no appointment date set). I would like to know if anyone here has experience w/ any doctors in Kentucky, if so what city and their name. Thanks in advance. Brian

Pshhhh leave KY aint nuthin here! But people to dope ya up not take ya seriously and take ur money. Just save all the time and trouble and see a specialist recommended travel for your answers. I dont know much on SM so maybe it is different. I know that in Louisville Norton Hosp is very nice! Thats where I travel 4hrs currently to see 2 docs. But no answers or cures just meds. So Im tryin a few other options then heading to Chiari Institute. It would have saved me a lot of time money and hassle if I had just done that from the beginning. An alot of emotionally drama too dealing with the closed doors from doc after doc. But I wish you all the luck! An again the staff and hosp is amazing at Norton!

Hello and thanks for the reply, a little update, still seeing a NS in Lexington and he is not a SM/CM specialist and does not believe that my syrinx is causing any of my symptoms due to its size and that fact that it's not blocking flow of spinal fluid per MRI. I disagree w/ this and think by the way that I feel that what is happening to me is def from the SM. Anyway, what are the doctors names at Norton in Louisville? How did you set up your first appointment? Did you have to be referred? Thank you for your help.
