Dr in Phoenix area

Postby dmwoodfield » Wed Jun 13, 2007 6:13 pm

I am new this week to the board. Still working on a complete diagnosis with my neurologist (who is just a generalist).
All I know so far is I have a syrinx/cyst.
I had 2 more MRIs today.
I do not have many symptoms like many of you have - just numb arm/hand and minor back pain.

I have been reading all the message boards this week going crazy for info - I am still in total shock stage and am obsessed with getting as much info as possible. The most important thing I see is getting the right doctor.

Does anyone know of a specialist in the Phoenix area.
I looked up on the internet and found the Barrow Neurological Institute I called then and was advised they have 3 doctors that are familiar with SM. But I have not seen any of these Dr's mentioned in the forums.
Anyone heard of this facility?

Thanks for your input
Donna

Hi Donna, Hang in there! I know it's a big shock to start with. I believe my syrinx all started with an MVA 13 years ago and I only had minor symptoms for 11 years. It's only in the last 2 years that it has started to have a big impact on my life. I was finally dx in Jan.

What I'm saying is you may only have these manageable symptoms for years and years to come. But it is still very important to see an expert for their opinion about your specific case.

I know there are several members from AZ so I'm sure they will be along with some good advice too.

Remember stress will only make your symptoms worse. Try not to worry about what you can't control, instead put your energies into what you can-finding a great doc.

Wish you all the best,

Caroline

Before you make an appt with any NSG/NL please wait for Keesha to answer. She can probably steer you best in the NSG/NL in the PHX area.

Welcome and glad you found us here. I'm sorry for the reasons, but at least you found a pretty good source for information.

Hang in there...
