Any Recommended Drs in Orlando/Central FL

Postby kellycotton1432 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 9:45 pm

Hello Everyone
My 12 year old daughter just had an MRI that shows a syrinx c4-c6. That is all we know at this point, she has an appointment with a Neurologist (Ronald Davis) who is associated with Arnold Palmer Hospital, but we dont know if he knows anything about Syringomyelia. The neurosurgeons who read the MRI recommended a brain MRI and a more intrusive MRI of c4-c6. (My guess os they are looking for Chiari?) She gets headaches/migraines 2-3 times a day, and loss of feeling in her lower legs and feet about once a week, and trouble breathing quite regularly, among many other symptoms. I'm just very worried about her and looking for any info I can get... Do any of you habe any experience in FL with any good Neurologits and or Neorosurgeons?
Thanks!

Thank you very much guys! I am going to keep the appointment with Dr. Davis just to see what he has to say. Maybe he will get the other MRIs ordered quickly too. How long does this process usually take? And do you think it is bad that she is having so many headaches/migraines? We initially had the MRI cause she has what the pulmonologist called sigh breathing, and they got concerned about her legs and headaches. I don't even know if the syrinx can cause the breathing problem... The way her insurance works we have to go on referrels, ugh. Guess I will call the pediatrition in the am to get her an appt with a neurosurgeon!

I'd just caution you to ask for a specific neurosurgeon for the referral rather than whoever the primary care dr. recommends. Many of us here have found out the hard way that just because they are nsgs. doesn't mean they really understand what all is involved with these. You want someone who does many, many, many of these a year on kids.
