Please, Need Feedback - Dr. Bowman - Dr. Menezes

Postby tmjjt5 » Sun Oct 28, 2007 9:53 am

Hello,
We are thinking of having Dr. Bowman do the
decompression on our 4 year old son. She is out of "Childrens
Memorial Hospitial" in Chicago. She also wants to do the Duraplasty
too - which makes me worry. She also has sent us to Dr. Menezes in
Iowa for his opinion too (Nov. 14th). We heard he is top notch. Has anyone used Dr. Bowman or Dr. Menezes for
their child? We really like Dr. Bowman, but I would like to get some
feedback too, for a little piece of mind. Please, if anyone has
anything to say about either doctor, please post it. Thank you and
God Bless.

Menezes has an excellent reputation. He is the chairman of the ASAP Medical Advisory Board. I haven't heard of Bowman, but manybe others have.
I see you are in Wisconsin. We flew our twin daughters to Dr Iskandar in Madison. He was wonderful and so was the children's hospital there. We were very happy with all the care we recieved.

Hi TMJ,

I have heard of a lot of people using Dr. Frimm in Chicago. I think he is at the University of Chicago but I could be wrong. Is it possible for you to get a 2nd opinion and possibly a surgical referral from him? If you look back on some of the comments with his name you will see a lot of wonderful comments about pre and post-op surgeries. Apparently, he is just one of the best.

I think his information is located on the ASAP Medical Advisory Board.

Take care and I hope you get the very best care for your son with a positive outcome and a great recovery.
GOD Bless!

Hi, TMJ.

I'd like to second the recommendation of Dr. Frim at the University of Chicago. He did my daughter's surgery last year when she was 9yo. He is a great guy (aside from being a top-notch surgeon) and I would travel around the world to take my children to him if I had to. Thankfully, we live in Chicagoland so it isn't an issue. The following link is to his UofC web page...

Good luck to you and your son.

Hi Ted and Mary~

I thought of your family on the 14th as we were celebrating Jaxon's one year post op. I hope that Dr. Menezes was able to provide some insight to your son's condition. And give you some peace of mind about surgery.

Blessings,
Rachel~
