SM Specialist

Postby sara b » Wed Jul 02, 2008 2:31 pm

Hi,
I am new to all this. I am unsure as to what to do with my daughter, But from being a part of this forum I have learned a lot. I just have so many questions and do not know where to start. But I have learned that the most important thing is that we have a NS that specializes in SM. So heres my first question.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to tell if your pediatric NS specializes in SM? When I read up on ours it say his specialty is Pediatric Neurosurgery, Minimally invasive skull-base and Intracranial surgery, Neuro-oncology does any of this mean Syringomyelia?

Ant suggestions would be vey helpful.....

None of those are related to SM.

What area do you live in? Dr. Frim is in Chicago and Dr. Men...?? is in Iowa, I believe. I'm not sure of any other pediatric neurosurgeons. Once you provide where you live, Roz can post a list of specialist that might be close to you.

Take care,

Thanks, for the response. After spending days reading everyones posts I got the feeling he did not specialize in SM.

I am in New Jersey. I have contacted Dr. Frim. I will be sending him her MRI and MRA results, I am not sure how we would swing Chicago.

I believe there might be a specialist that's closer to you than Chicago. Read some of the pediatric posts. I specifically recall reading about suggestions for pediatric neurosurgeon in NY.

Take care and keep us posted.
