Tired of the run-around

Postby the 4ks » Tue Mar 18, 2008 2:38 pm

Ok here is my latest vent.

I'm getting tired of getting the run-around everytime we try to contact TCI, they are some of the best Drs, for this disease but their staff leaves much to be desired...and it doesn't matter who you talk to they are all the same.

It is time for Ken's yearly MRI, usually TCI writes the MRI scripts and we get them done locally and have the CD sent to TCI, and Dr. B looks it over and gives us his report on the status of the syrinx....simple!

Well this time when I contacted them for the scripts our nurse said "are you coming in for an office call" Yeah OK we are just suppose to hop on a plane and come in for an office call????????

I explained to her what we normally did and even sent Dr. B's e-mail that states he has no problem with this. Her reply was the administrators said no.

So I also asked that since his surgery in 2004 the syrinx has reduced to almost nothing and has stayed that way, how often if any does he now need to get his MRI's?....The nurse said to ask our Dr.......which was what I was trying to do was to ask the Dr who knows the best which is Dr. B.
Our local Dr, doesn't know the answer to this question because he is not a specialist in this disease and doesn't know the protocol. He said to ask TCI. ...TCI said to ask our Dr.

I guess if our Drs. knew anything about this disease then there wouldn't be a need for TCI

Any ideas?

Our local Dr. doesn't have a problem ordering the MRI's its just the reading of the MRI's that cause the problem......the radiologist always freak out when they see a syrinx and then the metal plate in his head is some kind of artifact.....we have the MRI's done at the same place every year and every year we inform them of the syrinx and metal plate. Last year they said we need a surgeon and fast because he had calcium deposits and a syrinx. Now you see why we need TCI to read them?

Maybe you just got a bad associate? I haven't dealt with TCI, but I know with my son's pediatrician, the answers you get depend on who answers the phone. I hope you can get this all straightened out. Who needs the stress with everything else going on?

Sorry for the run around you are getting. It is so frustrating to try to get through to people a simple request. It is unfortunate that you cannot have one person to talk to so you don't have to re-explain it to them everytime.

Can you email someone there that may know who you are and what you are asking? I hope you get some answers as more stress is not what you need...Sue

I have e-mailed several people at TCI, they are getting harder and harder to deal with.

That tends to happen with an increase in client base. Try emailing Dr. B again. If he's changing protocol on you, he needs to be the one to tell you that and why, and what you can do going forward.

Frustrating!! :x

Take care and I hope you get this resolved soon.
GOD Bless!

talk to R. Roberti or to your nurse or NP. They will be able to sort this out for you.

Yep,

I'm right there venting with ya. I emailed the dr. almost 4 weeks ago, he said my nurse would send me a script for a sleep study. I am STILL waiting!

I called them to make my 1 yr post op TCS visit. I got put on hold, then a woman with broken english got on. So I told her what I needed, she got real loud, kinda rude and shouted, "this is the Chiari Institute!"

Later the next day the medical secretary called, I made my appointment. She did say all the tests that I need to have, MRI's, must be done there.

I am just frustrated, that's all.

I know R. Roberti is no help at all, our nurse is of no help. I give up.
We will just try to deal with idiot radiologist here and look at the pictures ourselves to see if anything has changed.
