NS in MO, AR, TN?

Postby Wifey S » Sun Aug 19, 2012 1:57 am

Hello all,

It has been quite a while since I visited the ASAP boards! I was diagnosed more than 3.5 years ago, surgery a little more than 3 years ago and I had two relatively normal years following surgery. Now, all pre-surgery symptoms are back, along with some new, frightening symptoms. I have recently been approved for MO HealthNet (Missouri Medicaid) insurance after a little more than a year of being without insurance. I previously had private insurance which allowed me to choose nearly any doctor of my choice and I also lived in a large metro area (Kansas City) with a number of neurosurgeons to choose from. I now live in Springfield, MO and have not yet found or heard of any NS in this area who is knowledgeable in CM. I am looking for any and all recommendations in these three states and I can research to see if they will take my new, state health insurance.

I appreciate any and all recommendations you have for Neurosurgeons in the tri-state region or anyone else nearby if you're certain they will take MO HealthNet. Thanks everyone for taking a moment to read this and providing your suggestions and recommendations.

Wishing you all a "relatively" pain free day.

Cheers!
Toni

I can definitely vouch for Dr. Capocelli in Fort Smith AR. He's an angel in a teddy bear body! He shunted my syrinx in Jan 09 and had done over 300 of those procedures at that time. I owe my legs to him and to Roz, who recommended him to me!

WHAT? Where did he go, do you know? I know he has extended family in the area. Perhaps he gave it up due to insurance crud.... :(

If you are still looking, I was just successfully decompressed by Dr. Stephen Griffith in Kansas City. He is affiliated with Saint Luke's on the Plaza. He does both pediatric and adult cases. They are a great team there. Best of luck to you.
