I don't stay on the computer a lot but I click on ASAP 1-2 times a week. Like some of the others here, I don't use the ASAP facebook page because people really don't want to know how we feel. When we’re first in pain, people can see the pain on our face, but after a while, our bodies learn to hide our pain & people have no idea how much we’re hurting. It's good to be able to come here and share what we're really going through. I'll try to check in here more and post more since I've received support here. I had all my SM and CM symptoms before I came here. After being diagnosed and finding this forum, it was nice to find out what I was going through was 'normal' for what I have. Finding different ways to relieve my symptoms and pain is a benefit of this forum too.

Well said, Birdlover. I agree on all counts.

And MaryMac--I think you've got some very positive response here, so let's get organized! It might be fun to adopt someone for a month or two and then move on to someone else. Moving around like that would give us a chance to get to know more people. Just a thought. A case could be made for staying with one person for a longer time, too. So I'm flexible.

Give us some ideas.... June

I was very active on here starting about 6 yrs ago and I have not been on here for the last 4 now but I am back and I was wondering were everybody was now also. Maybe some of you can help me I need to find a specialist and I know there is a list somewhere on here I just cant find it. I am in Utah and I remember there are a few in California and Colorado. Can any of you please help me with that? I just recently started walking with a cane 2 weeks ago. My back pain is getting worse Dr had a MRI done with no contrast so the Neurosurgeon says I need a new one with Contrast, but that I'm not a candidate for surgery till I'm in a wheel chair but she doesn't understand why I am in pain and why I am walking with a cane. Like I am making up my symptoms? I told her I guess I just like the fashion statement of a cane, doesn't every 34 year old women wish they had one? It was one of the hardest things in my life to do was breakdown and buy a can and have to walk around in public and be dependent on it helping me get around. I cried for the first 4 days I felt like I lost a piece of me. and for her to treat me like I'm faking my pain was such a slap in the face. My Dr treated me like I'm trying to Drain the pharmacy he gave me 20 lortab 5 and acted like I was asking for a lot to even ask for something for pain. I just want to see a specialist who will believe me. I know I'm not the only person who has these issues but it's heart breaking. Thank you for taking the time to read this I should have posted my own post. LOL! :P

Hi all,

I plead guilty! I have started using to an iPad - it's so much easier than walking across the house and sitting in front of a computer - but I managed to get my password gummed up and gave up... This is the first time I've managed to login for a long time. I had noticed a slowing down of usage by that time, though, so I didn't get around to looking into it for awhile... Which became more than awhile...

I don't use Facebook - my computer security geek friends have scared the dickens out of me regarding the security and privacy vulnerabilities, and I really don't want to be on the computer ***more*** --- after all, that was one of the things that put too much strain on me while I was still working.

I guess I've also been feeling a bit stressed - my motorized wheelchair broke 13-1/2 months ago, so I'm now using a manual wheelchair... I guess it's safer, since the wheelchair "fitter" saw it nearly fall over on me and did/said nothing! I really dread having to file a Medicare fraud claim, but it doesn't appear I have much alternative.

Also, I took 2 semesters of Freshman Music Theory at the local University - it definitely convinced me that I don't have the energy, focus, or concentration for any real "heavy lifting". I also had my old home trashed by a tenant, and am still dealing with the court battle ***just to retain the security deposit***. It's bad enough that she did about $12,000 in damage, but then the initial damage request (stemming from the eviction case) was ruled against on a technicality... But, hey, what's life without a little drama?

So, yes, I'm still hanging out here in NM. I recently had a new set of MRI's which show my syrinx "stable", whatever that means. A few weeks later, I started dislocating bones in my foot again, for the first time in 8-10 years, so I need to have my shoes remade. It does seem like a never-ending saga.

I'm glad to see everyone's faces here, and will try to do a better job of popping in more regularly.

Nighty-night for now!

I can reply to a post that's already here, but I cannot start a new topic.

I'm trying to post about praying for Sandy. She used to post here a lot. Sandy just lost her husband, Ken, to cancer.
Sandy is fighting her 2nd bout of breast cancer while dealing with her Syrinx symptoms & arthritis. She'll need a lot of prayers.
Also please pray for her family & loved ones.

Sandy is such and sweet and giving person. I know her and Ken made a lot of great memories. I pray they will bring her some comfort in the upcoming months and years.

Not sure how to fix the problem with new post. For the last year we have been trying to get a new website up and running. I keep thinking I can wait and hopefully they will be able to solve the issue. Sometimes I am so overwhelmed with everything that I need to do that it seems like nothing gets done. I apologize for the problems with the message board. Hopefully once the new website is active, we will not have to keep registration closed to keep the spammers off our message board and they will resolve all the issues we are having. So please hang in here with me.

thanks everyone,

Patricia
