What is the name of the conference hotel?

Hotel Check-in time is 4:00 pm local time. Check-out time is 11:00 am local time. Special arrangements can be made for early check-in or late check-out based on availability.
What is the room rate?

$144 plus tax per night plus a resort fee of $22++. Individual attendees must make their hotel reservations directly with Marriott reservations at 877-491-0442 or through the online portal (link available on the ‘Annual Conference’ main page). When making reservation let them know you are attending ASAP’s Chiari & Syringomyelia Conference to receive this rate. If you have any problems, please let us know. Call 903-236-7079 or email
The resort fee of $22.00 plus applicable tax, will be added to the guredst room rate. This fee will cover several in-room amenities that will include:
• High-speed Internet access in guestrooms
• Two bottled waters replenished daily in guest room
• 24-hour access to Relache Fitness Center
• Scheduled shuttle service to Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Disney Springs
• Local, toll-free and domestic long-distance telephone calls
• $10 credit towards dry cleaning services
• Private training session (15 min.) at Relache Fitness Center (Limited sessions available) Appointments required.
• One bucket of range balls at nearby Celebration golf Club


Resort self-parking is $22.00 a day; valet parking is available for $33.00 a day. (Tax is additional.)

What is the last day to reserve a room at the discounted rate?

Rooms must be reserved on or before July 12, 2018 to receive the discounted rate. A limited number of rooms are available at this rate. If the room block fills before the cut-off date we cannot guarantee this room rate.

Do I have to stay at the conference hotel?

No. Staying at the Gaylord Palms offers the convenience of being near the conference proceedings and benefits the organization. You will also have the opportunity to spend social time with other attendees.

Gaylord Palms partners with Mears Transportation, a company providing Orlando transport service for over 60 years, to ensure you have a top-notch experience. A member of Mears Transportation can bring you from Orlando International Airport to the hotel as part of their 24-hour airport shuttle service. There is a charge for the service.

What is the registration fee for attending the conference?

Adults 16 & up: $175 each
Children ages 5 – 15: $95
Family pack: two adults and two children: $490
No charge for children under 5, over 15 years must register as an adult.
The fees include: all lectures and workshops, Wednesday evening buffet, breakfast Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Saturday evening banquet meal.

We do not want to attend the banquet, can we get a reduced rate?

You can register using the day rate at $70 per day. This will include the group breakfast.

Can I come for only one day?

Yes. If you are not able to attend the entire conference, you can pay by the day.
The day rate is $70. Registration fee includes the group breakfast.

Can my family/friends who are not attending the conference come to the Saturday night banquet?

Yes. You can purchase a ‘banquet only’ ticket for $75.

When is the last day to register?

You can register online, by phone, or through the mail until July 12, 2018. After that date, you may register on site.

Can I get a refund if something happens and I cannot attend?

Yes. If you have to cancel before June 30, you will receive a refund minus a $25 handling fee. We are not able to give refunds after June 30 because we have to commit numbers for food.

Can children attend the conference?

Absolutely, we encourage you to think of the conference as a family event. We have special sessions for children and teens (5 – 16 years) with Chiari, syringomyelia or related disorders as well as siblings and children whose parents are affected. When one member of the family is diagnosed, it affects everyone! The conference allows patients, family and friends to interact and share with others who understand their unique perspectives.

When does the conference end?

The agenda is still in development at this writing. However, plans are to end around with a closing banquet Saturday evening. As soon as the agenda is completed, it will be available on the website.
