Bobby Jones Open Scholarships

Since 1979, Bob Jones from around the world have come together each year to play golf in honor of the “original” Bob. This unique and heartfelt tradition tributes the late Bobby Jones, legendary American golfer and co-founder of the Masters Tournament, who later developed Syringomyelia.

The Bobby Jones Open proudly supports ongoing efforts supporting Syringomyelia research, rehabilitation and related initiatives. A portion of the tournament’s funding provides for equipment grants, available through ASAP.

BJO Equipment Grant

Grants up to $1,000 are available for qualifying ASAP members to assist with the purchase of adaptive equipment and assistive devices. You must be a member of ASAP for 6 months prior to applying for the grant, have a diagnosis of syringomyelia or Chiari, and provide a written quote for total cost of the item. Checks are made directly to the vendor.

The Bobby Jones Open has made it possible for numerous ASAP members to improve their quality of life and enjoy a more independent lifestyle. Grant awardees have received help purchasing ramps, therapeutic bicycles, accessible showers, lift chairs, wheelchair accessories and more.
